Learn to Bike Information
Will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays
Campers registered in this Add-On will require a properly fitting helmet as well as their own bike to participate.
Please take off any training wheels on the bikes before sending them to camp. Our staff does not have tools to remove them and are also not permitted to remove them. Training wheels will interfere with learn to bike instruction.
You should bring your child’s bike and bike helmet to camp on Wednesday and we will keep them over night for you to pick up on Thursday after camp.
Learn to bike is done with our staff however on several occasions we are visited and assisted by Toronto Police Bicycle officers. The dates Police assist us are dependent on their work schedule and what other commitments come up on those days. We use a paved surface when it is done outdoors and we use an indoor ball hockey rink when it is done indoors. We decide on which we use depending on the weather.
The campers are assisted one on one during their turns until they develop greater skills that are strong enough to do semi-unassisted and unassisted cycling. They work on many things including starting, stopping, balance, patterns (i.e. circle, figure eight and slalom) as well as bicycle safety.
This Add-On has been an absolute hit and your children will love it!
